Chuck Silverman
Back to Featured Listening
Afro-Caribbean music (sometimes referred to as "Latin" music) has enjoyed great
popularity for many years. Whether it's mambo or samba, songo or salsa, bossa
nova or mozambique, this style of music is one which must be studied in order
to fully develop as a drummer. Its popularity continues to grow. Surprisingly, there
has never before been a "music minus drums " method developed which allows
the student of drums to study these styles. AfRO-CARIBBEAN PRACTICAL PLAYALONGS
is that method.
Each style is presented so that you may listen, read, study, and play the chart.
Performance tips are given as part of each explanation, with grooves written out
and explained. Certain charts allow the student to explore the aspect of soloing
over a "latin" feel.
AfRO-CARIBBEAN PRACTICAL PLAYALONGS gives c you the opportunity to explore
Afro-Caribbean rhythms as a rhythm section team player. Your improvisational
skills will be challenged and sharpened. It's a must for the industrious, well-rounded
performer.
This book Cd set has an incredible playalong CD with very tasteful
playalong tracks and examples. Please do not take my word for it
