Traditional Afro-Cuban Concepts in Contemporary Music
This book and cassette tape set features examples of African-pop sounds widely recognized in Cameroon. These songs are in 6/8 with roots reaching back hundreds of years. "Bikutsi" was a war rhythm of the Beti people which evolved into this contemporary African style of music. If you are looking for some new sounds, this is a very interesting book of many fine musical examples.
