This book is an excellent formal study for either the self taught drummer or a
teacher. It begins with pictures and explanations of each of the drum
components - hi hat, ride cymbal, snare and bass drum. It then provides
step by step graduated exercises. Each group of exercises is first presented
in one bar phrases and then in four bar groups. The unique thing about these
studies is that you are given instructions to play each exercise by leaving out
one part or more and coordinating different drum components.
