Fast Hands is a self-instructional book and DVD intended for band directors and their students. The DVD helps the viewer to play along with Wade and his students while learning the basics of posture, holding the sticks and the correct stroke, which leads to playing drums with "fast hands." The book includes instructional pictures that help guide the reader to understanding how to follow the written directions, and has the DVD to fully explain each step.
Fast Hands is an enriching and fun read with stories and pictures from the authors wild drum corps days to the forward by legend John S. Pratt, founder of the International Association of Traditional Drummers. Witty chapters range from NO, YOURE NOT DUMB to RUDIMENTS THAT HAVE WITHSTOOD THE TEST OF TIME. Fast Hands even includes rudimental contest solos written by the author and his son Aaron.
Wade has been playing drums since age eight, has taught music in Manatee Countys public school system for over 25 years, and is now in North Carolina teaching percussion at Young Harris College. Wade performed all over the United States and studied with icons such as Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich and Joe Morello. Wade has a Bachelors Degree in Music Education with an emphasis on percussion performance, as well as a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. After surviving cancer and strokes, Wade has focused his teaching on those with special needs.
